End of day 5. I buckle my belt one notch tighter. Less pictures today means less food. I had a meeting in Starbucks this afternoon and didn’t have the coffee I normally would have.

Sunday. Went to sleep late, woke up late. Hung around the house, watched some football.
This project factors into my eating habits. I am not snacking.

12:19 pm First cup of coffee.

2:45 pm Second cup of coffee

3:31 pm Late light breakfast

4:37 pm Killer Jamaican beef patty. It is good to live in Brooklyn.

6:51 pm A pair of clementines.

6:51 Liquid calories.

7:27 California cabernet. Will pair well with dinner… preparation.

7:47 Short ribs with potatoes in a mustard, horseradish sauce.

I would love to eat more. Maybe six cookies. I don’t want to document overindulgence. I will have water so I don’t have to photograph it.

The project is effecting my eating habits. I have not been snacking. Prior to the restaurant we met at my mom’s apartment. Normally I would have grazed on appetizers, had a glass of wine or soda. I didn’t want to be bothered taking a photograph. Meals have been fairly normal. This was my first time photographing while dining out of the house. I was at a restaurant with extended family. It was interesting explaining the project and shooting my food in public.

New Year’s Day – here it begins

After overindulging on Thai food ordered in from Lemongrass we wandered over to Prospect Park.  I was quite full and very cold.  Not conducive to cold bubbly consumption, but I am obligated to have a sip at midnight.

Earl Gray at 1 am.

Coffee at 10:40 am.

Left over thai food from last night, too much sugar. And a Diet Coke to wash it down. 1:43 pm.


I was putting away the flan from last night. Inadvertently I licked the sauce off my finger… 2:05 pm.

Now for dinner. Salad with ranch dressing. Shrimp sautéed in olive oil and butter with pepper and paprika, and garlic rice and a kir royale (got to do something with left over cava). Still haven’t had the flan that Miriam made.

Introduction

I am not a writer.  I am a photographer.  With that caveat…

I have been looking to do a long term personal project.  Personal diary and inventory have always interested me.  Food interests me as well.

I have decided to photograph everything I eat or drink for the calendar year of 2009.  I am excited and daunted by the scope of this project.  There will be a lot of images to make and manage.  This will greatly effect my daily life.

I am keeping an open mind.  I am limiting my expectations: that that is, is.

I assume the first image will be a plastic cup (or bottle) of champagne photographed in Prospect Park at midnight on 1/1/09.
